How To Enter
The Unfiltered Reflection Project will be seeking essays from teens 13-19 years old until October 23, 2023.
The following outline of steps in the process should help you get started:
Express your initial interest by submitting the 'Interest Form'. You will be contacted by a member of the Unfiltered Reflection Team. This contact will let you know if your essay topic has been accepted
Once your initial Interest Form is approved you, your guardians and your mentor will complete and submit the Waiver/Release and Permissible Use form along with your essay abstract.
Look over the example essay to understand the content and formatting for your final draft.
Submit your essay and resource pages. Reminder that there is only one entry per person and the first essay submitted will be considered. Submit your draft.
Members of the Unfiltered Reflection Team will guide you through the process of revising and editing your draft. They will share feedback and suggestions regarding formatting and content.
Once your essay is finalized, the Unfiltered Reflections Team will contact you with a list of questions. Answers to these questions will guide our illustrator in developing art for your piece that reflect your topic and personal interest.
Once the book has been published you can expect a certificate acknowledging inclusion in the collection that can be used on resumes or CVs, a free copy of the essay collection for your school’s library and a vote regarding which youth-centered charity will receive a portion of the book’s royalties.
